Question |
What do the respected scholars and the muftis of jurisprudence say regarding this matter that nowadays, the fashion of having tattoos on one’s arms or rest of the body has very much increased. People get names and different designs etc. engraved on their bodies in such a way that a machine makes an incision in the skin before filling it with permanent colouring. Pain is also experienced in this and a wound mark is also made which disappears after a few days revealing the design underneath. What is the shar’i ruling for this? Having tattoos of different designs made on one’s body is not permissible by Shari’ah and is prohibited. It entails altering the creation of Allah Almighty, and non-Shar’i altering of the creation Allah Almighty is impermissible, Haraam, and a Satanic act. If one has tattooed such a design or name on his body, then it is mandatory for him to have it removed whilst repenting and seeking forgiveness if it can be done without extreme pain or mutation. Otherwise, let it remain in that state and continue repenting and seeking forgiveness in the court of Allah Almighty. |
