Question |
What do the noble scholars say regarding the following matter: Children are not made to stand in the rows in the Masjid, what is the Shar’i ruling regarding this? |
The Shar’i ruling in regards to those mature children who are acquainted with the Salah is that their row is made separately, behind that of the men. However, if there is only one child, it is not necessary to form a separate row for him, rather, he can stand in the men’s row, regardless of whether he stands in the middle of the row or at its edge; there is no harm in either. Those children who are so young that they are not mindful of the Salah cannot be made to stand in the row, irrespective of whether there is one child or more than one child. The Salah of such children is not valid and wherever they stand in the row, it is as though the row is empty from that point, and doing this is forbidden and impermissible according to the Shari’ah. Note: it should be noted that taking such young children to the Masjid who are not mindful of the Salah, run around, scream, shout and cause disruption is not allowed. The command of protecting Masajid from children and insane people is given in the Noble Hadees. |
