Question

What do the scholars of Islam say regarding the following matter: Is it appropriate to take a young immature child to the Masjid? Also, how is it to take him and stand him beside you in the row? Will the row be considered cut off in this case or not?Questioner: Muhammad Tahir Barakati (Federal B-Area, Bab-ul-Madina Karachi)

To take such an immature child to the Masjid, regarding whom there is pre-dominant assumption that he will spread impurity, is Makruh Tahreemi, i.e. it is impermissible and a sin, and if there is mere doubt or possibility of him spreading impurity, then it will be Makruh Tanzeehi, i.e. it is not a sin but it is better to avoid it. In regards to standing them in the rows; if such a child who is not even aware of how to perform Salah is stood in the row and because they are not even capable of performing Salah, the row will absolutely be considered severed. Severing the row is impermissible and a sin. Therefore, under no circumstance should they be made to stand in the row of the men; care should be taken to complete the row.
