Question

What do the respected scholars and the muftis of jurisprudence say regarding this matter that is the adjoining of Jumu’ah and Eid burdensome or unfortunate? Did it ever occur in the era of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم or the Sahaba عَـلَيْهِمُ الرِّضْوَانْ that Jumu’ah and Eid fell on the same day?

The adjoining of Jumu’ah and Eid is not burdensome or unfortunate, but rather, it is a means of goodness and blessings, as two Eids and two worships are bestowed in one day. It occurred many a times in the noble eras of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and the Sahabah عَـلَيْهِمُ الرِّضْوَانْ that Jumu’ah and Eid fell on the same day together, but it is not narrated from anyone to consider this as burdensome or unfortunate. Rather, it is proven from Hadees that the two occurring on the same day is a means of goodness and blessings and to consider both falling on the same day as a burden or misfortune is thinking of it as a bad omen, which is not permissible.

In a Hadees, it has been declared good for Muslims for Eid falling on the day of Jumu’ah. Therefore, it is stated in Musannaf Abdur-Razzaq, translation: Zakwan narrates that in the noble era of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, Eid-ul-Fitr or Eid-ul-Adha fell on the day of Jumu’ah, it is said: The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم came and stated: No doubt you have obtained Zikr and virtue.(Musannaf Abdur Razzaq, vol. 3, pp. 176, Hadees 5745)
