Question |
What have respected Islamic scholars ruled on the following issue? Is it allowed or not to offer Salah while wearing glasses made up of a plastic or iron frame, etc.(Questioner: Muhammad Arsalan, Gulistan-e-Jawhar, Karachi) |

اَلْجَوَابُ بِعَوْنِ الْمَلِکِ الْوَھَّابِ اَللّٰھُمَّ ھِدَایَۃَ الْحَقِّ وَالصَّوَابِ |
To offer Salah while wearing glasses is permissible whether its frame is made up of plastic or any metal on condition that the nose bone firmly rests on the ground. In Sajdah, it is Fard to keep the forehead firmly placed on the ground and to keep the nose bone firmly placed is Wajib. If the nose bone does not rest on the ground because of the glasses or only the tip of the nose touches the ground owing to the glasses, a Wajib act will be missed and hence Salah will be Makruh-e- Tahreemi. That is, offering Salah in this condition is a sin and, if offered, it is Wajib to repeat the Salah. |
