The Ruling of Fasting Whilst Travelling

The Ruling of Fasting whilst travelling

(Dawateislami)

Question

What have Islamic scholars and Muftis ruled on the following query? What is the ruling of fasting if one is in Shar’i travel during Ramadan-ul-Mubarak?

The traveller has a choice to fast or not to fast. It is better for him to fast if by fasting, there is not any detriment to him or his companions, and it is better for him not to fast if there is some detriment to him or his companions by him fasting. But keep this issue in mind that if one has to travel in the day and is not a shar’i traveller at the time of Subh-e-Sadiq [break of dawn], then there is not any exception for him from fasting that day due to him travelling in the day, rather he will have to keep the fast of that day.
